I am coming from Germany and I completed my pharmacy studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with the second state examination. During my studies, I not only gained practical experience in the pharmaceutical industry, but also spent several months working on the development of new antibiotic candidates at the University of Bergen, Norway. After receiving my license to practice pharmacy, I started my doctoral studies at LMU Munich. After a year, I decided to accompany my supervisor Prof. Becirovic to Zurich to establish a new laboratory and continue my research.
For my PhD thesis, I am working on the development of a new diagnostic approach for inherited retinal dystrophies. By CRISPR manipulation of different human cells, I try to extract and analyze all necessary genetic information to enable a comprehensive genetic diagnosis.
In my free time, I travel a lot between Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Hiking and jogging are as much part of my leisure repertoire as my favorite sport, handball, and the odd relaxing movie nights.
